Description

Matum Tea – Bael Fruit – Bengal Quince
Dried fruit slices
Latin name: Aegle marmelos

The Shofah Spa Matum tea consists of sun-dried and untreated Bael fruit slices. Our batches of this particularly aromatic quince variety come from the south of Thailand and are carefully sliced and dried after harvesting. Light vanilla and orange notes with a hint of natural fruity sweetness make this tea so special. Bengal quince is full of good minerals such as calcium, potassium and beta-carotene. Water soluble vitamins are also abundant in this fruit such as:

Vitamin B1 – Thiamine – contributes to normal nervous system and heart function.
Vitamin B2 – riboflavin – helps protect cells from oxidative stress.
Vitamin B3 – niacin – helps reduce tiredness and fatigue

It is said that quinces were used as a natural remedy in ancient times and provided relief from flu-like infections, coughs, bronchitis, gastrointestinal complaints and inflammations of all kinds, among others.

Preparation of Matum Tea :
Put 2 to 3 slices of Matum fruit in a litre of water, let the tea boil briefly and turn off the cooker after the first boiling. After that, the tea should steep for about 10min to develop its full aroma.
Enjoy the fruit tea either warm on cold winter days or as a refreshing iced tea in summer.

Idea :
Why not try making ice cubes from Matum tea or make naturally sweet, low-calorie popsicles from this very special drink!
